Despite the Pews

We want the same things you and I We want the rain when things are dry We want the same things I'm telling you We want the same things despite the pews

There's something within us that says go left when they say go right There's something within us that makes us cry all night It's not about pushing just because they say pull It's about finding the quiet strength in the lull

We want the same things you and I We want the peace when things go awry We want the same things I'm telling you We want the same things despite the pews

Here we are going 'round in a circle Here we are asking our personal oracle We want to scream out, we want to run But the truth is, reality is no fun

We want the same things you and I We want the healing but it never arrives We want the same things I'm telling you We want the same things despite the pews

Now we come to the end of self Now we come to the beginning of health It's not about finding every answer at all The truth is in the spiraling fall

We want the same things you and I We want the meaning to simply survive We want the same things I'm telling you We want the same things despite the pews
